Choosing the Right Size of Boiler in Oxted
Heating Services ltd, a heating and plumbing company based in Oxted, Surrey, covers boiler installation in Oxted and other towns across London, Surrey and Kent. A boiler is sized to the house, not to the old boiler: radiators, bathrooms and incoming water pressure decide the output, measured on a survey.
What size boiler does a Oxted house need?
Sizing starts with the house itself rather than the appliance being replaced. Radiator count, bathroom count and mains pressure are what set the figure. A survey by Heating Services ltd sets the size before anything is ordered.
An oversized boiler switches on and off constantly and wastes gas doing it. An undersized one falls behind the moment a shower and a tap run together. Measuring rather than assuming is how both are avoided.
Can you legally install your own boiler?
Not a gas boiler. In the UK, gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and a boiler installation also has to be notified to Building Control. A DIY gas installation also voids the manufacturer warranty and can leave your home insurance in question.
How can you tell a heating system needs flushing?
A sludged system gives itself away: radiators cold along the bottom, some never heating properly, a banging or kettling boiler, and black water when you bleed a radiator. All of those point to sludge rather than a boiler fault.
Cleaning chemicals are pumped at high flow through the circuit, one radiator at a time. Afterwards Heating Services ltd doses the system with inhibitor and fits a magnetic filter where there is not one. Otherwise the debris builds straight back up.
Can a combi boiler be used as a system boiler?
Not as it stands. A combi heats hot water on demand and has no cylinder, while a system boiler bathroom installation Surrey is designed to heat a stored cylinder. Changing between the two is a change of system type and needs a survey first.
